1. Overview

F-5-1 General Permanent Residency is one of the detailed F-5 permanent residency codes. It is for an adult under the Civil Act who has stayed in Korea for 5 years or more on a status from D-7 (Intra-Company Transferee) to E-7 (Specific Activities), or on F-2 (Residence) status.

2. Eligibility Requirements

• Continuous stay in Korea of 5 years or more on D-7 to E-7 or F-2 status as of the filing date, while maintaining the economic activity allowed for that status (separate business-performance criteria apply to D-8, D-9, D-10 and E-7 holders)
• Livelihood ability: income of at least 2 times the previous year's per-capita GNI, or net assets of at least 1.5 times the average net assets of the previous year
• Good conduct (screening of domestic and overseas criminal records)
• Basic knowledge: completion of Level 5 of the Korea Immigration and Integration Program, or a score of 60 points or more on the comprehensive evaluation for permanent residency or naturalization
