What a Korea Visa Agent (Administrative Office) Does — Scope of Work

A Korea immigration administrative agent (haengjeongsa, 행정사) prepares and files visa and residence documents with the immigration office on the client's authorization. At Vision Administrative Office (VISAS KOREA), the scope of work is:

    • Consultation: checking which status of stay fits and whether the requirements are met (Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese)
    • Document review: a checklist of required documents per status, and checks for missing or incorrectly formatted items
    • Application preparation and filing: visa issuance confirmation, extension of stay, change of status of stay and similar applications
    • Accompanying you to the immigration office
    • Responding to supplement requests and preparing documents for administrative steps after a refusal (such as an objection)

The Ministry of Justice manual states that the head of the immigration office may add or omit submitted documents when needed for review, and that approval is decided through examination. We therefore do not guarantee any outcome. Representing a client in a lawsuit is outside the scope of an administrative agent, not administrative-office work.

    D-8, D-7, E-7 and F-5 Application Support

    • D-8 (Corporate Investment): preparing the foreign investment report or investment-enterprise registration certificate and the dispatch order or employment certificate, and supporting the filing of the visa issuance confirmation application.
    • D-7 (Intra-company / Resident): reviewing the dispatch order, proof of branch or liaison office establishment (permit or accepted-report copy) and proof of operating funds, then supporting the filing.
    • E-7 (Specific Activities): reviewing the documents of the employer and the foreign national and preparing the application. Foreign nationals with a work-eligible status must report their occupation and annual income when applying for stay permits, so we check those entries too.
    • F-5 (Permanent Residency): preparing and reviewing the documents for the change of status to permanent residency (F-5) and supporting the filing.

When an agent files the visa issuance confirmation application, a power of attorney, the agent's certificate of employment and a copy of the agent's ID are additionally required.

Visa Extension and Change of Status Support

Extensions and changes of status must be filed by a foreign national who is staying in Korea, and an agency cannot file for a foreign national who is abroad. The government review fee is KRW 60,000 for an extension of stay, KRW 100,000 for a change of status and KRW 200,000 for a change of status to permanent residency (F-5), and it is not refunded after the application is accepted. The administrative office's own fee is separate and explained at consultation.

Company Setup for Foreigners (Foreign Investment) Support

A foreign investment report is filed in advance with the Minister of Trade, Industry (Foreign Investment Promotion Act, Art. 5), and the foreign-invested company must be registered once the contribution is made (Art. 21). We prepare and review these documents and support the later D-8 filing.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Q. What does a Korea visa agent actually do?
    A. A Korea visa agent (administrative office) reviews visa and residence documents, prepares and files applications, and can accompany you to the immigration office on your authorization. Typical filings are visa issuance confirmation, extension of stay, change of status and F-5 permanent residency. Approval is decided by the immigration office's examination, so no outcome is guaranteed.
    Q. How do I choose a Korea immigration consultant for foreigners?
    A. Check (1) that the office is a registered administrative office and its details are clear, (2) that it explains its scope of work in writing for your case type (D-8, D-7, E-7, F-5 and so on), (3) the consultation languages (we serve Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese), (4) that its own fee and government fees are quoted separately, and (5) that it does not promise approval. We give this checklist rather than rank offices.
    Q. Who can help me get a D-8 investor visa in Korea?
    A. An administrative office such as VISAS KOREA can support the D-8 process: preparing and reviewing the foreign investment report or enterprise registration documents and the dispatch order or employment certificate, then filing the application. The immigration office decides on the application.
    Q. Do you handle D-7, E-7 and F-5 applications too?
    A. Yes. We provide the document list per status, document review, and application preparation and filing. A power of attorney, the agent's employment certificate and ID copy are additionally required when an agent files a visa issuance confirmation, and documents may be added or omitted in examination.
    Q. Can an agency handle my visa extension?
    A. Yes, if you are staying in Korea. An agency cannot file for a foreign national who is abroad. The government fee for an extension is KRW 60,000 and is not refunded once accepted. The administrative office's fee is separate.
    Q. Do you help foreigners set up a company in Korea?
    A. Our scope is preparing and reviewing the foreign investment report (Foreign Investment Promotion Act, Art. 5) and the foreign-invested company registration documents (Art. 21), then supporting the D-8 filing. Authorities and documents for each step depend on the case and are confirmed at consultation.
