What an extension and change-of-status agent does

At Vision Administrative Office (VISAS KOREA), the scope of work for extension of stay and change of status is:

• Consultation: checking which application fits your current status of stay (Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese)
• Document review: a checklist of required documents for your status, and checks for missing or incorrectly formatted items
• Application preparation and filing: extension of stay, change of status of stay, change or addition of workplace
• Accompanying you to the immigration office and responding to supplement requests
• Preparing documents for administrative steps after a refusal (such as an objection).

Points to check before you file

• Foreign nationals must be staying in Korea when they apply; an agency cannot file for someone who is abroad.
• Stay is in principle granted within the validity of the passport.
• Work-eligible statuses require reporting your occupation and annual income when you apply for stay permits.
• Government review fees: extension of stay KRW 60,000, change of status KRW 100,000, change of status to F-5 KRW 200,000, not refunded after acceptance.
• Other government review fees: change or addition of workplace KRW 120,000, permission for activities outside the status of stay KRW 120,000, grant of status of stay KRW 80,000; extension for marriage immigrants (F-6) KRW 30,000.
• General document rules: documents issued in Korea are valid for 3 months from issuance unless another validity is set; documents issued abroad must carry an apostille or consular confirmation; a letter of guarantee is recognised for up to 4 years; medical certificates must be submitted in the sealed envelope from the issuing institution.
