Points System for Permanent Resident (F-5-11) Status

Overview

Provide a Permanent Resident (F-5-11) status to the persons with exceptional capabilities in such fields as science, business management, education, culture and arts, sports, etc.

Eligible Applicants

Persons who meet the qualifications required by at least one of the “Compulsory Items” of the table below and at the same time, satisfy one of the following requirements:

  1. Thirty (30) points or higher from one compulsory item and 50 points or higher from compulsory and elective items combined (prompt issuance of a permanent resident visa irrespective of a period of stay in Korea)
  2. Twenty (20) points or higher from compulsory items and 100 points or higher from compulsory and elective items combined (prompt issuance of a permanent resident visa irrespective of a period of stay in Korea)
  3. Eighty (80) points or higher from compulsory and elective items combined, and at least one-year stay in Korea after foreigner registration

    Medalists of a large-scale global sports game and their instructors
    Lecture experience at the top 200 universities designated in three years by renowned university-ranking organizations such as QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), THE (Times Higher Education), ARWU (Academic Ranking of World University), CWUR (Center for World University Rankings), etc.
    Work experience at the top 500 companies designated in three years by UNCTAD or leading business magazines such as Fortune, Forbes, Businessweek (U.S.), Economist (U.K.), etc.
    300 regular workers in Korea & Domestic capital of 8 billion Excessive domestic and foreign work experience
    Ownership of intellectual property rights in Korea or other countries (Patent rights, utility model rights and design rights only)
    Persons with exceptional talent in science, business management, education, culture and arts, sports, etc.

    Annual income: based on a certificate of earned income issued by the head of a tax office (GNI: Per capita Gross National Income of the previous year announced by the Bank of Korea, only for income earned in Korea)
    Net worth in Korea: real and personal properties, and other personal assets excluding debts (A credit information certificate will be reviewed to find records of default and debts.)
    Education Level: degrees earned from either a Korean or foreign university, only for graduates (not applicable to prospective graduates)
    ※ If there are multiple selection items applied, all of them will be added together, but the score will be     If duplicated, only one high score is counted (but all points are added together)
    Details of Selection  
    -Annual Income: Based on GNI per capita of previous year announced by the Bank of Korea, and domestic income of applicant (except accompanying family, etc.)  
    -Domestic assets: Includes all real estate and real estate under the applicant’s name, but only net assets excluding debts.  
    -Education: Both domestic and foreign degrees are included, and only if already acquired (except acquisition)       
    ※ Only domestic diplomas acquired after completion of the course of school recognized under Article 2 of the Higher Education Act are recognized.  
    -Basic knowledge: Participation in social integration program education or comprehensive evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Justice  
    -Letter of recommendation: Head of the Constitutional Authority, ministerial level in the central government, members of the National Assembly, head of the regional government  
    -Study abroad in Korea: Study at least 2 years in a Korean university and get a bachelor’s degree        
    ※ If you study at a school * subject to your visa status (D-2)        
    * Schools of the Higher Education Act, Article 2, No. 1 to No. 4, more than junior colleges (including night graduate schools) established under the provisions of special laws, and polytechnical degree programs of the Korea Polytechnics  
    -Performance of tax payment: Income tax paid more than 4 million won per year for the previous 2 years before the year the application date falls         
    Example) If the application date for permanent residence is 2018.1.1. Divided the total amount of tax paid until December 31, 2017 by 2  
    -Domestic stay: Legally stay in Korea for more than 3 years (total total stay period in the past)  
    -Community Service: Over 1 year in Korea   (Including activities for public benefit, appointed and commissioned as members of government or regional governments)  
    -Employment: In case of continuous employment of two or more nationals for six months or more as of the date of application  
    -Home ownership: owning more than 200 million Korean homes  
    -Management experience: Demonstrated more than 3 years of practical management experience as a representative of domestic and overseas businesses  
    -Accompanied families: The scope of companion family is limited to spouses and children.  
    -Study Abroad: Studying Graduation
